Our aim as the Research Communication team is to support KAUST faculty and researchers to share their achievements with both global scientific and nonscientific communities. Through our two research publications, KAUST Discovery and KAUST Insight, and our social media channels, we provide a platform for KAUST researchers to reach the international scientific community and create awareness in the Kingdom and globally of their innovative research. We also encourage engagement and community outreach with our regular live panel discussions, called the Sci-Café, where we invite members of the KAUST scientific community to discuss the most important current issues in the world of science and technology.
KAUST Discovery website and magazine were launched in 2014 to promote the University’s research progress in a way that is accessible to a broad audience. We use a journalistic style of writing and as many home-grown images as possible to communicate the latest stories about our people and their scientific discoveries.
KAUST Discovery actively follows research that is at the heart of the University’s mission to enhance the welfare of society through special focus on food, water, energy and environment—four areas of global significance. Our stories reflect the journey our faculty, researchers and students are taking as they strive to grow edible crops in salty conditions, reuse precious water resources, maximize engine output and explore the Red Sea.
We bring you the KAUST Insight website and annual magazine to tell you the stories behind KAUST research discoveries.
The articles in KAUST Insight are selected for their potential to convey key messages behind KAUST research, such as how KAUST is addressing global challenges, answering fundamental research questions and providing high-caliber education. Many of the articles are testament to how the university’s world-class research infrastructure enables our researchers to perform their high-quality research.
KAUST Insight strives to represent the articles behind all areas of research at KAUST; our current research focus areas — Smart Health, Climate Change and Livability, AI and Advanced Computing, Semiconductors, Sustainable Energy, The Red Sea and Nonmetallic Materials — serve as a helpful roadmap for article selection.
Sci-Café is a lively and interactive discussion between KAUST scientists and community members that is held in a casual setting. The program fosters curiosity in science and creates connections between the KAUST community and the University’s scientists, allowing community members to ask questions and explore how interdisciplinary scientific research solves the real-world challenges of today. Join in the conversation on how KAUST faculty are designing tomorrow through their research.
Our team provides KAUST faculty and researchers with scientific illustration and science manuscript editing services.
The scientific illustrators provide manuscript figures, table of contents drawings and graphical abstracts, and journal covers. Trained originally as scientists and then later as scientific illustrators, they create technical illustrations based on a
strong scientific foundation. They provide traditional two-dimensional drawings as well as illustrations created in the three-dimensional space.
We accept final versions of your peer-reviewed manuscript articles for scientific editing. Editors work to improve the grammar, sentence structure and overall coherence of journal articles by offering tailored text-editing services to both non-native
and native writers of English. The goal is to improve the communication of science and not to change the meaning of a document.
